Lucky Sinners – Crankshaft Stories
CD 2011 DIY
Lucky Sinners is a Belgian rock’n'roll band formed in 2008 out of the ashes of the heavy punk’n'roll band Violation 13 and the punkband Koncept. They already recorded a 6 song demo called ‘All Sinner, No Saint’ and now they released their full length debut ‘Crankshaft Stories’.
Lucky Sinners draw influences from a wide range of bands and music styles: streetpunk (Street Dogs), punk’n'roll (Social Distortion), punkrock (Ramones), NY Hardcore (Agnostic Front), (hard)rock (Motörhead, Turbonegro), … and you can recognise these influences in the songs on ‘Crankshaft Stories’.
Lucky Sinners hotrod rock’n'roll (like they call it) is characterized by straight forward songs, raw vocals (maybe some cleaner/more melodic vocals here and there would be nice), loud guitars and kicking drums. ‘Crankshaft Stories’ is an album full of in your face heavy punk’n'roll anthems with the throttle nicely kicked in. The album offers 10 self written songs and 2 well done covers/tributes to their heroes Social Distortion (Reach For The Sky) and Twisted Sister (We are not gonna take it).
If you like your rock’n'roll to be heavy, raw and mean than the Lucky Sinners is your band and ‘Crankshaft Stories’ is your soundtrack to roar along. The album also comes with some cool looking artwork. 8/10
