The Rabble – The Battle’s almost over
CD 2007 DIY
The Rabble is an Auckland (New Zealand) based punkrock band formed in 2001 by brothers Chazz and Rupe at the young ages of 14 and 15. Inspired by the Ramones they adopted the same family name: Rabble. ‘The Battle’s Almost Over’ is the bands second full-length and was already been released in 2007. At this moment the band is working on a new album that will come out in 2011.
The Rabble brings 77 inspired punkrock music, English style but aren’t afraid to add elements form other styles like rockabilly, country (‘The Devil’s Highway’), Celtic folk (‘The Battle’), …. Because you can only hear these influences in some songs the sound in general is punkrock for the fans of the Unseen, Anti-Flag, Total Chaos and even Rancid.
‘The Battle’s almost over’ is a nice and divers album although it would be nicer if the sound was a bit dirtier, it could use some more grease. The digipack looks stylish though. 7.5/10
