REVIEW: Red Tape Parade – The Third Rail Of Life

Red Tape Parade – The Third Rail Of Life

CD 2010 Ass-Card Records

When songs deal with very personal aspects of life some songwriters don’t want to publish the lyrics into the booklets because it would be too much?! What are they afraid of? If its to personal, why do you sing about it? On the other hand you got bands as Red Tape Parade who are, like most songwriters, not afraid to sing about the personal shit they went trough and publish the lyrics into the booklets. On the contrary they even put liner notes besides the lyrics to explain what the song really is about and how it came to its existence. You just got to respect that.

Red Tape Parade’s ‘the third rail of life’ is an honest and melancholic record from an passionate, emotion driven (post)hardcore, punkrock band that can be musically and/or lyrically put besides bands as Boy Sets Fire, Texas is the Reason and Farside. The album offers a good alternation between heavy up-tempo songs and more moderate, more melodic songs. Its a divers album with an overall dark, dramatic and melancholic atmosphere but its drama done in style. 8/10
