REVIEW: The Octopussys – Face The World

The Octopussys – Face The World

CD 2011 Funtime Records

The Octopussys is a 5 piece Belgian melodic punk rock band formed in 2005, inspired by nineties (skate)punk and influenced by bands as Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, Pulley, Ten Foot Pole, …

‘Face The World’ is their debut full-length album and the follower to their six track demo in 2008 and their split CD with state of Mine (RIP) in 2009.

The album contains 11 modest, mostly mid tempo, melodic and catchy punk rock songs that, after a few spins in your record player, got stuck in your head. As I’m not mistaken on ‘Good Guys’, I even hear some ‘the Rocket’ influences ;-).

‘Face the world’ is a nice punk rock record from another promising Belgium punk rock band. Bands as the Rocket, Generation 84 and the Octopussys are the living proof that there still is a place and a future for Belgium punk rock. 7.5/10
