REVIEW: Lie Captive – The Hopeless North

Lie Captive – The Hopeless North

CD 2011 Death To False Hope Records

This melodic punk trio from Plattsburgh, NY has recently released their first full length record ‘The Hopeless North’ via Death To False Hope Records. It is available on CD and as a free download.

Lie Captive has a guitar based hardcore/punkrock/Indie sound that reminds me of bands as Polar Bear Club and A Wilhlem Scream. Both musically and lyrically the album has a bid of a dark atmosphere but not in a total depressive hopeless kind of way. The album in general is more a critical observation of today’s society soaked in the passion and the anger of punkrock and hardocre with an indie rock vibe. A real must have. 8/10
