REVIEW: Elegy Remains – As Centuries Collide

Elegy Remains – As Centuries Collide

CD 2012

Elegy Remains is a young modern metal band from Emden, Germany. After their first demo, a live EP in 2010, Elegy Remains released their first self-produced full-length album ‘As Centuries Collide’ on June 15th 2012!

They were formed in 2009 with a goal not to follow the caved footsteps of metalcore, but rather playing their own varied mix of modern metal. Listening to ‘As Centuries Collide’ makes me concluded that they really try to establish a sound of their own by combining speed with calm parts and breakdowns and alternating melody, catchy choruses with brutality. The use of odd song structures create an atmosphere that we also find in math core bands, which makes ‘As Centuries Collide’ not easy to chew. Some of us might find it a bit chaotic but on he other hand it helps making it an interesting album. 7,5/10
