REVIEW: Shinto Katana – Redemption

Shinto Katana – Redemption

CD 2012 Let It Burn Records/

Shinto Katana is a Sydney-based outfit that recently released a new record on Let It Burn Records/Acuity.Music. I’m guessing that, like me, you never heard of this band before but this Australian band has already shared stages on tours with bands like Emmure, Shai Hulud, The Red Shore and Deez Nuts and supporting the likes of August Burns Red, Darkest Hour and Bleeding Through.

‘Redemption’ is actually the bands third full length following up their 2008 debut ‘Cold Streets’ and their 2010 release ‘We Can’t Be Saved’.
If you are into aggressive though guy metalcore, moshable material with simple breakdowns and uncomplicated modern metalcore like Emmure, The Acacia Strain & The Ghost Inside then ‘Shinto Katana’ certainly appeal to you. Nothing groundbreaking here but if you like all the above than ‘Redemption’ is a decent album for you.

Shinto Katana is a band for the ones that love uncomplicated pissed off and in your face metalcore. 7,5/10
