REVIEW: Antidote – No Peace In Our Time

Antidote - No Peace In Our Time

Antidote – No Peace In Our Time

CD/LP 2012 Bridge Nine Records

New York HardCore legends Antidote released their first EP ‘Thou Shalt Not Kill’ in 1983 and only existed a few years before the original line-up called it a day. Antidote got back together in the late 80’s/early 90’s, changed their music direction and put out a full-length record ‘Return 2 Burn’, but the magic of that early line-up was lost. They reunited in 2008/2009. In 2010 the ‘Thou Shalt Not Kill’ EP was re-released and now they are back with a new album in 21 years.

This album goes back to basics, so don’t expect anything innovative, fresh or some kind of modern hardcore because Antidote’s ‘No Peace In Our Time’ sounds like how real NYHC should sound like: fast, furious and energetic. Although its old-fashioned, it doesn’t sound dated. It is very nice to hear this kind of old school hardcore again. 8/10.
