CD/digital download 2013 HRC

Armatage Shanks is a Norwegian skate/pop punk band that recently released a new record called Lost and Broken. I’m not sure if the band is called after ‘Armatage Shanks’, the British manufacturer of bathroom fixtures and plumbing supplies or after the Green Day song ‘Armatage Shanks’ released on the Insomniac album. I’m hoping its the last one.

Are they as good as Green Day was in their heydays of (pre-)Dookie and American Idiot? I don’t think so, but that’s also the fact for a lot of punk rock bands. Is it bad then?, no but the record in general is sometimes a bid to dull, a bid to emo, to poppy and to radio-friendly for my taste. I specially like the more heavier songs on this record, songs like F.u.c.k, but also some of the mid tempo songs can satisfy me.

As a conclusion, at times ‘Lost and Broken’,bring back memories of the heydays of the nineties skate punkbut most of all is an average pop punk record. I give it the benefits of the doubt. 7/10
