REVIEW: V/A – Oi! Ain’t Dead 3

7 Jacket (Glue Pocket - No Spine) [OB-GD17-001]V/A – Oi! Ain’t Dead 3
7” 2014 Rebellion Records

The Oi! Ain’t Dead compilations from Rebellion Records are well known by now, certainly by everyone who has an interest in Streetpunk and Oi! music. The first ‘Oi! Ain’t Dead” compilation (The Old Firm Casuals, Razorblade, The Corps and Booze & Glory) was released on LP and CD, follower ‘Oi! Ain’t Dead 2’ (Bishops Green, Razorblade, Lion’s Law and Razorcut) was released on 10” vinyl and now ‘Oi! Ain’t Dead 3’ (The Old Firm Casuals, Noi!se, Razorblade and Badlands) is released as a 7”. It looks like they are downsizing here 😉 but still the formula is the same: four Oi! and streetpunk bands on on a nice disc of vinyl that became real collectors items.

The coolest thing about this one is that each band offers one brand new, previously unreleased, track. The Old Firm Casuals kick off on side A with ‘American Dream’ an Americanised European streetpunk rock’n’roll song like OFC know how to play best and which easily could be on a ‘Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards’ album. Next up are Noi!se with ‘Two Faced’. This American band offers the most catchy and most melodic track on this 7”. On the B-side Razorblade open with ‘Annihilation’, another song in their typical brutal but melodic We-roll-over-everything-and-everyone style. Badlands closes the ranks with ‘Banner Of Hope’ a song like only Victor and Badlands can write.

Another good and decent Oi! Ain’t Dead release. 8/10

Track list:
1. Old Firm Casuals: American dream
2. Noi!se: Two Faced
3. Razorblade: Annihilation
4. Badlands: Banner Of Hope
