REVIEW: Myra – Valley

Myra - Valley - ArtworkMyra – Valley

I was postponing this review a bit, solely based on the prejudice that it was called metalcore (shame on me) but Valley, the new album by German metal/hardcore band MYRA, is just worth writing about and metalcore … just does not fully cover it. MYRA was founded in 2005 and released their third full-length ‘Valley’ on 5 December 2014.

I did not expect it at first but ‘Valley’ is a damn fine album. It has its authenticity, it is powerful, aggressive but not overdone and still catchy. It is a good blend of hardcore heaviness, raging metal and well placed modesty with a bit of a dark and melancholic atmosphere. Valley is a metal album worth checking out. 8/10
